Last week, IHI released a new white paper — "Achieving Health Equity: A Guide for Health Care Organizations." Derek Feeley, IHI President and CEO, writes in the forward that equity may be the forgotten aim of health care improvement. “As a leader of IHI,” he writes, “I have to admit to a frustration with our failure to help move the needle on health equity.” Now, IHI is launching a five-part framework to help health systems close the gap in health outcomes based on race, socioeconomic status, and other factors.
