In late July, the Institute of Medicine (IOM) released a new report with recommendations for the future of graduate medical education (GME) in the United States. The report focused on reforms related to GME financing and governance, and was based on findings from a 21-person committee chaired by Gail Wilensky, PhD, and Don Berwick, MD, IHI President Emeritus and Senior Fellow. This week, Drs. Wilensky and Berwick reflect on the IOM report in a Perspective piece in The New England Journal of Medicine. Read what they have to say in “Reforming the Financing and Governance of GME.”

Whether you’re planning informational sessions to recruit potential members, setting up an expert speaker panel, or hosting a movie screening, the IHI Open School team understands that finding the funds to support Chapter activities can be difficult. In fact, this was a difficulty many of you mentioned in your Chapter Progress Reports this year ― but we are here to help you!
Each semester, we set aside a small amount of funds to help Chapters, like yours, with the important work you are doing. To be considered for event sponsorship for the Fall semester, all you have to do is ask: Please share your upcoming activities on this form before the October 1 deadline!
