We didn’t want to be left out, so we’ve compiled a list of five things the IHI Open School did this year that we hope can help you in your work to improve quality and safety in health care. Our latest blog post has several ways you can get more involved in the movement next year with courses and Chapters — just in time for New Year’s resolutions.
At last week’s IHI National Forum, Dr. Don Berwick, IHI President Emeritus and Senior Fellow, said: “If you don’t think health care is about power, you have not been paying attention.” In his powerful keynote address, Berwick talked about how health care takes power away from patients — the people to whom it belongs — and how it can give that power back. The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Institute works to build nursing’s capacity to improve the quality and safety of health care. They’ve just issued a call for abstracts for presentations at their 2017 QSEN Forum, happening May 30–June 1 in Chicago, Illinois. Submissions will be accepted until December 31, 2016.
