Institute for Healthcare Improvement

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you'll join me — and more than 40 of health care’s most forward-facing organizations — as we kick off the third year of the IHI Leadership Alliance starting September 1. The members of this group are committed to working together, in concert with our communities and our workforce. The driving mission of the Alliance is to deliver better care and better health at continually lower costs per capita, to build a future where the workforce will thrive, and to show others how to innovate and lead in pursuit of the IHI Triple Aim.

In our first two years, IHI Leadership Alliance members collaborated around issues top of mind to them as leaders while leveraging the influence of their collective voice. These efforts resulted in new tools, processes, and approaches to make progress in these areas to date:

  • Igniting joy in work
  • "Breaking the Rules" to deliver better care
  • Improving the health of the populations we serve
  • Removing barriers in conversations around care at end of life
  • Testing to accelerate system changes in response to the opioid crisis
  • Addressing the challenges and opportunities inherent in today’s electronic health record (EHR) systems

We've talked about this work on IHI Leadership Alliance informational calls, in a JAMA publication, and in our Year 3 Prospectus, which will give you a comprehensive look at where we've been and where we're headed. I would very much like to connect you with the Leadership Alliance team to discuss what joining this group could look like.

Please email my colleague, Alyssa Saraswat at asaraswat@ihi.org or call our team at (617) 301-4800 to move forward.

Please join us!
