$$.jpgMany people believe that educating providers on the price of services will help reduce health care costs. It makes sense, but a recent study found no significant difference in ordering between a group of physicians who saw fees for the tests they ordered and a group who did not. Why? The New York Times offers this explanation: There are many reasons for over-ordering, and price transparency is a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough to change behavior. Health professions students of all disciplines are invited to submit articles sharing their improvement work to The American Journal of Medical Quality for the column “Quality Training to Improve Performance (Q-TIP).” Guidelines for the one-page (550-word) article can be found here, and article submissions should be sent to Dr. Mary Reich Cooper at mary.r.cooper@jefferson.edu by September 1, 2017. Up to 12 articles will be published in 2018. Good luck!
