New IHI White Paper on High-Impact Leadership

highimpactLeaders at all levels in care delivery organizations are struggling with how to focus their leadership efforts and achieve Triple Aim results — better health, better care, at lower cost — for the populations they serve. High-impact leadership is required. In IHI’s newest white paper, three dimensions of leadership are presented that together define high-impact leadership in health care: new mental models, High-Impact Leadership Behaviors, and the IHI High-Impact Leadership Framework. Also included in the white paper are examples from a variety of health care leaders to help illustrate High-Impact Leadership Behaviors in real-world practice. Access the white paper on high-impact leadership today!

What We’re Reading: ‘Improving Clinical Learning Environments for Tomorrow’s Physicians’

According to early findings from ACGME’s Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) program, traditional didactic training is “necessary but not sufficient” for developing skills to solve problems in the clinical environment. What else can teaching institutions offer, and how can they address what CLER reviewers are calling “a lost opportunity to create a cadre of young physicians equipped to lead sustainable systems-based improvement in clinical care?” Learn more in the New England Journal of Medicine.
